Yes. If you have out-of-network insurance benefits you're welcome to use them.
After each session I'll provide you with a superbill — a detailed receipt you can submit directly to your insurance company for reimbursement.
-
If you have out-of-network benefits your insurance company will typically reimburse you for 60-80% of the session cost after you've met your deductible.
To find out what your plan covers, call the member services number on the back of your insurance card and ask:
Do I have out-of-network outpatient mental health coverage?
Can I use these benefits for telehealth?
What is my out-of-network deductible and how much has been met?
Do I need a referral to see someone out-of-network?
What percentage of outpatient psychotherapy sessions are covered?
How do I submit claims for reimbursement?
-
After each session I'll provide you with a super-bill, a detailed receipt that includes all the information your insurance company needs to process a reimbursement claim.
You submit it directly to your insurance company and they'll reimburse you according to your plan's out-of-network benefits.
If you're unsure how to submit a claim, call the member services number on the back of your insurance card and they'll walk you through it. Most plans accept claims by mail, fax, or through their online member portal.

Yes, I reserve a limited number of sliding scale spots in my schedule. If you do not think you can afford my full fee, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
If I’m unable to offer you a sliding scale spot, I’d be happy to offer referrals to trusted clinicians in the area.
If you’re hoping to find an in-network provider, www.psychologytoday.com is a great resource.

No — therapists can only practice in states where they're licensed.
I'm currently licensed in Oregon, Massachusetts, and Colorado. You must live in one of these states for us to work together in a therapy capacity.
For mindfulness, meditation, and yoga therapy I can work with anyone anywhere in the country. These offerings operate outside of a clinical therapy context so location restrictions don't apply.
-
That's exactly what the free 20-minute intro call is for. Before scheduling a session I do a free intro call with all potential new clients.
On the call I'll share more about my approach and experience, you'll tell me what's bringing you in, and we'll both get a feel for whether it's a fit.
No pressure, no commitment.
-
We'll schedule your first session and I'll send over a few forms to complete beforehand.

Starting therapy can feel a little awkward, that's normal. I keep things real, collaborative, and judgment-free.
In our first couple of sessions I'll ask questions to get a feel for your story, what you've been through, and what you're hoping for.
We'll build goals together based on what actually matters to you.
Sometimes sessions are deep and emotional. Sometimes there's dry humor and unexpected clarity. Usually both. Either way I've got you.

Most of my clients meet weekly.
I ask that all new therapy clients commit to weekly sessions for at least the first 4-6 weeks. This gives us a strong foundation so you start seeing progress early.
For yoga therapy and mindfulness and meditation the frequency varies depending on which offering you choose.
-
My approach is whole-body but solution-focused. Meaning my hope for you is that you won't be in therapy forever!
Many clients find they've met their goals within 3-6 months.
Others find they need more time based off of the depth they are willing to go.
Most choose to stay in therapy longer because they value having consistent support as life continues to evolve.
I'll also sometimes recommend an intentional break once you hit a significant breakthrough so you have time to integrate what you've worked through before continuing again.
It’s really a matter of meeting you where you are at though!

I offer limited between-session support for clients in a commitment package.
I use a HIPAA-compliant messaging service on my end — for you it will feel like regular texting.
Because of the nature of standard SMS I can't guarantee confidentiality on your end, so keep that in mind when sharing sensitive information between sessions.
The goal for in between sessions is to support with accountability week to week as well as to celebrate your wins and be there if you find something that you were working on in-between sessions difficult and need some in the moment support.
